Update a card or fix a failed payment

Update your card

In Settings → Billing, under Payment, press Update. The new card is used for your next charge and for anything currently owed.

The card also carries your billing country, which is what the VAT on your invoices is calculated from — so a card from a different country changes the tax on future invoices.

A payment failed

Payments usually fail for an ordinary reason:

  • Expired or replaced card — add the new one.
  • Insufficient funds — try again once that is resolved.
  • The bank declined it — some banks block charges they do not recognise. Approving it with your bank and retrying is usually enough.

You keep your plan while we retry

A failed renewal does not cut you off. The subscription stays active while the payment is retried for about two weeks, and only drops to the free plan if none of the attempts succeed. Updating your card during that window is enough — the retry picks it up on its own.

Paying it yourself

You do not have to wait for the retry. In Settings → Billing, under Invoices, an unpaid invoice is marked Unpaid in amber with a Pay button beside it. Pressing it opens the payment there and then, with the card you already have on file — and a pencil to use a different one.

If your bank asks for confirmation, that happens in the same window.
