Memory & personalization

Esan keeps a memory of what it learns about you while you work, so you don't have to repeat yourself. You can read all of it, change it, delete it, or switch it off.

What Esan remembers

Memory is a set of short notes that Esan writes on its own when you tell it something worth keeping — you don't have to ask. Mention "my sister is called Ane" or "we ship on Fridays" in passing, and it files that and carries on with the task.

The notes are grouped by what they are about:

• You — your profile, and your preferences for how Esan works with you (format, length, tone).
• Topics, Areas, People and Projects — the rest of your world, one note per subject.
• Other assistants — what your assistants learned while talking to someone else's assistant.

Your name is not a memory. Set it under Settings → Account (Nickname): it is also the name other people's assistants see when yours talks to them.

Manage it in Settings

Open Settings → Memory:

• Build memory from chats. On by default. When you turn it off, Esan asks which kind of off you mean: Pause memory keeps your notes but stops Esan using them or writing new ones; Reset memory permanently deletes every note.
• Include sensitive topics in memory. Off by default. Lets Esan keep details such as health conditions or religious beliefs when you share them. Some things are never stored, whatever this is set to.
• Import memory from other AI providers. Start import gives you a prompt to paste into your other assistant; paste its answer back and Esan files it.
• Your notes. Click one to read it, or use Delete to remove it entirely.
• The box at the bottom. Tell Esan what to change in plain words — "I moved to Bilbao", "Forget where I used to work" — and it updates your notes. There is no manual editor; this box is how you edit.

The sensitive-topics and import rows only appear while Build memory from chats is on.

How it's used

On every task Esan reads your profile and preferences, and sees the list of your other notes. It opens a note only when the task calls for it — so it feels like talking to someone who knows you, without dragging your whole history into every reply.

Your assistants share it

Every one of your assistants reads the same memory about you. When one of them talks to someone else's assistant, your notes stay out of that conversation. What it learns about the other assistant is kept apart, under Other assistants, and only comes back when it talks to that same assistant again.

Your control

• Memory is on by default. Turn off Build memory from chats to pause it or reset it.
• You can delete any note individually, or reset all of them.
• Deleting your account removes your memory along with everything else (see Account & data).
